Answer: Immediately after its independence, Pakistan faced the problem of managing the influx of refugees, financial denial, military deprivation, and economic blockade. These problems were severe enough to destroy even a well-established and organized state.

2. According to the Quaid, what is the difference between freedom and license?

Answer: According to Quaid, freedom involves discipline, respect for law, and concern for others’ rights. However, a license means having no interest in laws or the welfare of others. It can harm both individuals and the state and undermine the purpose of independence.  

3. Why does Quaid-e-Azam emphasize the need for technical education in Pakistan?

Answer: Quaid believed that skilled professionals would build Pakistan’s economy and reduce dependency on foreign experts. It would make Pakistan self-reliant. That’s why he emphasized the need for a technical education in Pakistan.

Answer: According to Quaid, the responsibility of nation-building is more challenging than fighting for freedom. The fight for freedom demands unity and sacrifice. On the other hand, the responsibility of nation-building demands planning, patience, and responsibility, which are difficult tasks after gaining independence.

5. Explain the significance of self-reliance and diversification of careers in Quaid-e-Azam’s message to the youth.

Answer: Quaid encouraged self-reliance and diversification of careers for the youth. He advised them not to rely on only government jobs. He also advised them to pursue diverse careers like business, industry, and science to strengthen themselves as well as their country.

7. If you were a university student during Quaid-e-Azam’s time, how would his speech influence your career choices?

Answer: If I were a university student during Quaid-i-Azam’s time, his speech would inspire and motivate me to choose my career in science, industry, or commerce. I would follow my dreams instead of compromising on government jobs.

8. Why is the rejection of the “clerk mentality” important for a newly independent state, as per Quaid’s vision?

Answer: Quaid rejected the “clerk mentality” for the sake of an individual and the country. He wanted youth to think positively and innovatively, engage in technical fields, and become nation-builders of a dynamic, modern, and independent state. 

9. In today’s context, how relevant is Quaid-e-Azam’s advice regarding choosing fields like banking, industry, or commerce over government jobs?

Answer: In today’s context, Quaid’s advice is highly relevant regarding choosing fields like banking, industry, or commerce over government jobs because it will help drive economic growth, innovation, and prosperity, and lead the individual and country to stability.

10. Interpret and analyze the following statements from the speech:

a. “Freedom, however, does not mean license…”

Answer: Actually, Quaid wants to warn that a license does not mean having the right to enjoy freedom without having any interest in laws or caring for the welfare of others. This approach can harm both the individuals and the state and undermine the purpose of independence. 

b. “It is far more difficult to construct…”

Answer: According to Quaid, the responsibility of nation-building is more challenging than fighting for freedom. The fight for freedom demands unity and sacrifice. On the other hand, the responsibility of nation-building demands planning, patience, and responsibility, which are difficult tasks after gaining independence.

c. “There is no shame in doing manual work…”

Answer: Quaid encourages the youth to have a firm belief in the dignity of labour and manual work.  He advises them not to feel ashamed of doing any manual work.
